USF Exchange Program
Semester or Yearlong
Program Overview
Semester exchange programs allow students the opportunity to earn USF college credit from a diverse set of subjects abroad, while still paying an equivalent to USF cost. Students are enrolled abroad and take classes, live, and socialize with local and other international students, gaining a truly enriching experience and in-depth cultural immersion for one to two semesters.
Exchange programs are the most competitive and students are encouraged to begin the application process early to better focus on their personal statement and gather the needed recommendations.
Location
Haarlem, Netherlands: Haarlem is the capital of the province North-Holland and it has a wonderful historic centre with nice shops, some of the best museums in The Netherlands and excellent restaurants, bars, terraces in summertime and pubs.
Haarlem offers a wide variety of art, culture and other activities. Culture such as film, theatre and music can be enjoyed in the theatre, the concert hall and the new Toneelschuur, which was designed by cartoonist Joost Swarte. The best place for popular music concerts in Haarlem is the Patronaat.
Haarlem is also listed in 2009 as the most welcoming city of The Netherlands, because of the large variety of shops and resaurants & bars. It opens its doors to vistors from all over the world.
If you are a lover of nature and the beach, you are in a great spot. By bike, you quickly reach the dunes and the beach. You can also combine nature with going out. It is only a short distance to the trendy beaches of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. Bloemendaal aan Zee is listed in Times Magazine Europe's 10 best beach parties. Also the capital of The Netherlands, Amsterdam, is easy reachable by train and the trip takes only 20 minutes.
