The Yonsei International Summer School (YISS) opened its doors in 1985 and since then, YISS has become an integral part of campus life based on a unique blend of Korean and global cultures. YISS continues to grow and evolve, accommodating the needs of a rapidly changing student body and meeting the challenges of a fast-paced global society.

The fifth largest city in the world, the Seoul metropolis has a population of about 11 million and is the center for economy, finance, the arts and culture. Seoul is known to be one of the safest places to travel in with its low crime rate. There is a blend of old and new in Seoul with the modern high-rises and trendy shops mixed in with ancient temples and palaces. Shopping is not a problem with the many department stores and street shops located around the city. People are very sociable and kind to visitors in Seoul. The Han River flows through the center of Seoul. Encircling the city are rocky mountains which makes Seoul blend nature and modernization beautifully. The center of Seoul has a mountain called Namsan, which has a tower on top that enables one to see almost all of the city on a clear day.
Yonsei University's study abroad opportunities reflect good citizenship, academic excellence, intellectual freedom and global education. Situated in one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world, Korea has become a model for educational expansion, gender quality, family planning and many more key issues. The review committee will select the top applicants for this limited-spot program. Accepted students will be asked to commit and pay a deposit to USF.

The exchange program cost is based upon in-state tuition rates for a full-time course load. Out-of-State and International students also pay the same rate for the purposes of study abroad programs.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Funding
The Education Abroad Office offers Study Abroad Scholarships. These are partial scholarships awarded on a competitive basis to degree-seeking USF students. Please visit here for application information and deadlines. Please note that these scholarships are never guaranteed, and awards can only help pay for a portion of your total costs. We highly encourage you to apply to many other scholarships.
Students who are eligible for loans and grants to take classes at USF may be able to use their assistance to study abroad. USF students should contact the University of South Florida Office of Financial Aid (813) 974-4700 or visit here for further information.

Health and Safety
USF provides program participants with sickness/accident and emergency medical evacuation insurance valid for the dates of the program. Those who will travel independently, either in advance of the program or after the program ends, must ensure that they have insurance coverage valid outside the U.S.
Students attending the Seoul campus have the opportunity to live in Yonsei's International House. Students may also try to arrange off campus housing, though the on-campus option is highly suggested.Please see the international housing website for more information.
Who Can Participate?
Students must be at least of sophomore standing when they attend, but may apply as freshman. Graduating seniors may not participate in their last semester as program dates and processing time would delay their intended graduation. All majors are welcomed. A 3.0 GPA minimum is considered competitive for consideration.
Students are asked to not purchase any tickets until they receive an acceptance letter from the host school overseas. This letter will have details on orientation dates and arrival airports.
Students are responsible for arranging their own flights and transportation to the host school.
Every program participant MUST have a passport, valid six months from the date of travel. Students are responsible for their own immigration documents.
