Semester exchange programs allow students the opportunity earn USF college credit from a diverse set of subject abroad, while still paying an equivalent to USF cost. Students are enrolled abroad and take classes, live, and socialize with local and other international students, gaining a truly enriching experience and in-depth cultural immersion for one to two semesters.
Exchange programs are the most competitive and students are encouraged to begin the application process early to better focus on their personal statement and gather the needed recommendations.
Santiago is one of the most metropolitan cities in Latin America and easily the largest city in Chile. The city is known for it's vibrant culture and bustling streets catering to people from all over the world. A center of tourism as well as government and commerce, the city can satisfy greatly varied tastes from museums and music venues to hot springs and hiking. The city itself is connected by a modern subway system putting students within easy each of most of the city's key interests. The university is located in the heart of the civic center.
Founded in 1982, the University of Diego Portales is a private, non-profit priding itself as a center of independent thought and academic excellence seeking to cultivate and disseminate reaching, research, reasoning, and culture.
Known for it's programs in law, communication, businesses, engineering, and physiology, USF students have a wide array of coursework available at this institution. Please note, all coursework is taught in Spanish, students must be fluent to participate.
The exchange program cost is based upon in-state tuition rates for a full-time course load. Out-of-State and International students also pay the same rate for the purposes of study abroad programs.
Not included in this cost:
Housing abroad (arranged with and paid to host school)
Additional travel or medical insurance
Any transportation fees
Passport and Visa fees
Any additional or personal expenses
In addition, students are expected to pay Emergency medical insurance in the amount of $1.53/daily.

Health and Safety
USF provides program participants with sickness/accident and emergency medical evacuation insurance valid for the dates of the program. Those who will travel independently, either in advance of the program or after the program ends, must ensure that they have insurance coverage valid outside the U.S.
