Program Description:
 

Program Overview

Students will explore the Dominican Public Health system in order to gain knowledge of the medical field, the role of culture, and compare it to the United States. Students will work side by side with local physicians, nurses, and community heath agents in their constant efforts to provide health access to people who need it most.
Students will participate in a 10 day program where they will attend mobile clinics to rural communities, explore Dominican community health education, participate in public health lectures, visit various types of clinical facilities.

Program Costs

The United HealthCare Global Insurance cost is $1.53 a day and is billed at a daily rate. There is also a Security and Safety Monitoring charge which is:

$30 for travel/trips of 14 days or less
$40 for travel/trips of more than 14 days up to 28 days
$50 for travel/trips of more than 29 days 

These charges will be posted to your USF Account to allow for convenient payment through your OASIS account.

Medical Insurance and Travel Documentation

USF provides program participants with sickness/accident and emergency medical evacuation insurance valid for the dates of the program. Those who will travel independently, either in advance of the program or after the program ends, must ensure that they have insurance coverage valid outside the U.S.
