Program Description

View of the Sea from Barcelona
Students will spend six weeks in Spain. The program will be mainly based in Barcelona with various day trips beyond the city.  The intent of the course is to examine and experience a wide variety of architectural and urban spaces. Generations of modern architects showcase a wide range of architectural languages from the restraint of Raphael Moneo's concrete and glass structures to the historical formal experiments of Gaudi. The importance of Spain to the field of architecture cannot be understated. In addition to housing innumerable iconic historical buildings, Spain, for decades, has been at the forefront of advances in the profession, boasting multiple Pritzker Prize winners. The level of craft and the care in the construction assembly is unique to Europe and the world.
