Program Description

The Summer Academic and Cultural Engagement Program (ACE) is designed to facilitate a purposeful transition from high school to college for new incoming freshmen. Through four weeks of academic courses and social activities both on campus and abroad, ACE provides an introduction to the culture of USF, the city of Tampa, and gives students an Education Abroad experience their first semester!

Limited to 100 out of state freshmen, ACE creates a cohort environment that pairs academic coursework and a learning experience that gives students the opportunity to earn six credit hours of university coursework in addition to the opportunity to get involved in social, college based, leadership, and service activities. This is your chance to start "Running with the Bulls" a little early.

ACE Ecuador will be a one week experience in which students will visit a variety of park reserves in different regions within Ecuador as they engage with professors about biodiversity.  As part of this program students will attend lectures with experts in the field, as well as the following:

  • HIke and stay in park reserves in Ecuador as you learn about Biodiversity.
  • Become active participants in the management and preservation of their lands for future generations.
  • Explore the practice of conservation, learn about the multidisciplinary and complex nature of conservation problems.
  • Visit the entrepreneurships of the community-based conservation projects.
