USF Exchange Program
15 Weeks Fall: Sep - Dec / Spring: Jan - June
Immerse yourself in Spanish language and culture whilst studying abroad in the beautiful principality of Asturias! Semester exchange programs allow students the opportunity earn USF college credit from a diverse set of subject abroad, while still paying an equivalent to USF cost. Students are enrolled abroad and take classes, live, and socialize with local British and other international students, gaining a truly enriching experience and in-depth cultural immersion for one to two semesters.
Exchange programs are the most competitive and students are encouraged to begin the application process early to better focus on their personal statement and gather the needed recommendations.
Oviedo is the capital of the principality of Asturias. Its pre-Romanesque architecture sits among spectacular mountains and rugged coasts. Oviedo is a cultural Mecca and a very walkable city, which offers the best in modern living, in a fairly mild climate just five hours by bus to Madrid.
University of Oviedo
As the only public univerty in Asturias, the activity of the University of Oviedo has spread far throughout the region. Orginally founded in the 16th century, The university's population is like that of USF with more than 40,000 students, 500 of whom are foreigners. The founding "ancient" areas dating back to it's inception are the Faculties of Arts, Theology, and Law, but over the centuries have grown to include Business, Internationsl Studies, Education, Engineering, Social, Natural, and Human Sciences, and Linguistics.

Students fluent in Spanish may take courses throughout the university's faculties provided that they meet the requirements. Those with a strong understanding of Spanish but not fluent enough to sit in a Spanish-speaking classroom may opt instead to take the advanced Spanish language program offered through the university.
