GCP Grand Challenges in Exeter & London

Program Description


exeterJoin the Global Citizens Project for the GCP Grand Challenges in Exeter & London trip abroad as part of the Global Issues, Challenges, and Perspectives course during the summer session in 2018. In this embedded 14-day study abroad program to the United Kingdom, we will gain self-awareness, knowledge of global issues, and the ability to analyze global and cultural interrelationships and interdependencies. During the first week of the study abroad experience, students will participate in the University of Exeter’s Grand Challenges ( Grand Challenges is a five-day intensive, problem-based program that exposes students to a range of contemporary global challenges such as global security, food systems, and climate change. USF students engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with Exeter students to create innovative solutions with support from a range of experts. Grand Challenges will provide students with the opportunity to develop their skills in designing presentations, teamwork, research, as well as others.
In addition to academic centered activities, students will experience many cultural activities including tours of famous landmarks in London (Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, The British Museum, etc.) with excursions to nearby areas such as The Eden Project, Stonehenge, the town of Bath, and Windsor Castle.
Major benefits of this trip include the opportunity for students to collaborate with fellow undergraduate students from USF and University of Exeter as well as experience the cultural diversity of London and all the city and surrounding area has to offer.

This program is open to students pursuing the Global Citizen Award. Students not pursuing the Global Citizens Award may also participate, should there be space available on the program.
